Shawn Kleebaum

Shawn Kleebaum gave an excellent presentation on Internet for Educators. He had lots of great ideas that I am going to try and incorporate into my upcoming student teaching placement.

Getting started with Prezi- This seems like a really neat way to create a presentation. Instead of using PowerPoint, I might start using this. Students like change, they may be bored watching Powerpoints, so Prezi might be a good change for the students.

Boogle- Great Idea! I just recieved an email from my cooperating teacher, and I am teaching a unit on current events! I am thinking I might get my students to blog/use a wiki, and write about current events every week. This would be a great way to incorporate technology into my classroom.

Calender- This seems like a great way for students to see when assignements are due. I like the idea of the calender sending a text message to the phone. Students will no longer have the excuse of "I forgot".

Google Docs- E Pals- This would be another great way to incorporate technology into the classroom. It would be great to get my students to email people via epal and ask them about current events/issues that they are experiencing in their country.

I learned a lot of great things that I hope to use in this upcoming placement!!

  1. Hey Cote! Those are some pretty sweet ideas and comments you posted. I really like your point about Prezi. I found in a lot of my classes students don't really like powerpoints and find it to be a glorified overhead slide with some gadgets attached to it. I think Prezi would be a worth while investment and a good idea to try in class.

Also an online calender is a great idea to keep students posted of whats taking place through out the course and school year.

These are all pretty awesome ideas and I hope to use them in the classroom this upcoming placement.

  2. Hey Cote,

That is cool that you are thinking about starting a wiki in your current issues class.
Since you are such a whiz with the Second Life and have made enough money off it to buy that sweet boat you purchased this summer, you should give your students a tutorial on second life and get them to make an Avatar. Im sure that your students would enjoy the second life experience as much as you have.
